The Requirements for Mobile Phone's High&Low Temperature Testing

In daily use, mobile phones often encounter high and low-temperature environments during charging, which can lead to device anomalies or safety hazards. Since many people habitually use their phones while charging, understanding and adhering to the requirements of mobile phone charging's high and low temperature testing is an important step to ensure device safety and performance stability. This article will introduce the main requirements and evaluation criteria for mobile phone charging's high&low temperature testing.

Basic requirements of high and low temperature testing

Mobile phones undergoing high&low temperature testing mainly include high-temperature storage, low-temperature storage, and temperature shock tests. The purpose of these tests is to verify the appearance and performance of the phone under different environmental conditions. Usually, the maximum temperature for high-temperature testing does not exceed80℃, while the low-temperature test is-20℃. The high-temperature limit of 80℃ is set because, beyond this temperature, the adhesive may hydrolyze at90℃, losing its bonding performance. In extreme cases, high-temperature tests at 90℃ with a humidity setting of 45℃ are sometimes conducted. These tests help manufacturers assess the durability of the phone in high and low-temperature environments, ensuring that its appearance and performance are not affected.

Temperature shock testing simulates rapid changes in high and low temperatures to observe the phone's performance in such environments. Different brands have varying specific requirements for temperature shock, but the core purpose is to evaluate the phone's functional stability under extreme temperature changes.

High and low-temperature cyclic humidity testing method

When conducting mobile phone's high&low temperature testing, battery performance is one of the key factors. High low temperature testing should first ensure the accuracy of the battery. Before starting the test, the temperature in the high and low-temperature humidity control chamber should be stabilized, then turn on the phone, connect the charging cable, and place it in the test chamber for half an hour. At this time, the ADC value read on the phone needs to be observed to ensure the battery status is normal.

The high and low-temperature cyclic humidity test chamber can be operated according to the following steps during high&low temperature testing:

Battery Discharge

Discharge the phone battery to3.5V.

Low-temperature Test

Set the test chamber temperature to-10℃, and after the temperature stabilizes, place the phone in the environmental test equipment and connect the charger to observe if the phone issues a temperature warning during charging.

High-temperature Test

The same steps apply to high-temperature testing, set respectively to-20℃,55℃, and65℃. Repeat the test and check if the phone's charging and performance behaviors are normal.

Evaluation standards for mobile phone's high&low temperature testing

After completing high and low temperature testing, a comprehensive evaluation of the phone should be conducted based on the following criteria:

Performance testing

All performance indicators of the phone in the high and low-temperature test chamber should meet the standards, ensuring its functions are normal.

Function check

This includes a comprehensive check of call functionality, display, ringtone, vibration, buttons, microphone, receiver, echo, indicator light, camera, charging, and other functions.

Structural inspection

Check the phone's decorative parts, logo, lens (LENS), etc., to ensure there is no adhesive deterioration or other inconsistencies with the pre-test state.

Appearance inspection

The phone's shell surface should be free of cracks, wrinkles, or other phenomena inconsistent with the pre-test state, ensuring the appearance remains in good condition after the high&low temperature testing.
